The increase to a whole-life order…
Man, who murdered his pregnant girlfriend has had his prison sentence increased to a whole-life order.
Alana Odysseos was a 32-year-old mother who was pregnant with her third child. She was described as doting on her children and a brilliant mother. At the hands of Shaine March, Alana was killed at her home. She was stabbed many times, and left the property Bleeding and shouting that Shaine had stabbed her.
March originally received a minimum term of 42 years, however, on referral to the Court of Appeal, this increased to a whole-life order. This is a sentence reserved for the most serious murder cases. March had previously been charged with murder for fatally stabbing 17-year-old, Andre Drummond in London in 2000. In 2013 he was released and put on licence for life, where he went on to murder Alana in 2025. Having been given this whole-life order, March will never be released from prison.
Many factors went into the original sentence decision, that being that March had sustained a brain injury when he was a teenager, and this affects his ability to have control of his emotions, lastly, that both the murders were spontaneous.
Alana’s family are said to be extremely happy with the outcome.
